Asia After Dark

When I interviewed to be the DCentric blogger, one of the things I passionately expounded on was the idea that DC is an under-loved and under-appreciated city. I’ve lived in other major American metropolises and I am from the left coast, so I feel like after a decade spent in Chocolate City, I am more than qualified to make such a bold assertion. I was born and raised in California and I often encounter people who, when they find out that little biographical detail, are immediately compelled to ask “WHY would you CHOOSE to live here instead?” Well, I choose to be in DC for many reasons. One of my favorites? Our amazing museums and their unique events, like Asia After Dark.

Embark on after-work adventures at the Freer and Sackler Galleries with Asia After Dark 2010. Mix, mingle, and sip specialty cocktails while checking out emerging musicians, dance performances, food from area restaurants, and Asian art and art activities.

When I last posted about AAD on my facebook profile, my friends in other, “better” cities were jealous. Who can blame them? Here is a partial list of awesome activities available during these adults-only nights at the museum:

  • Noshing on food from the city’s best Asian restaurants
  • Slurping creative cocktails
  • Sneaking peeks at new exhibits
  • Cheering on internationally-known Dance crews
  • Fist-pumping to dreamy DJs (okay, there was no fist-pumping…but there are DJs and thus, patrons dancing)
  • Simultaneously indulging one’s inner child with arts and crafts while tipsy

Need I bullet-point more? I thought not. Tickets go on sale on the 23rd. Get yours and I’ll meet you in a month for some cocktails, culture, crafts and more.
