If you're not in a place economically to purchase a safety net/support system (a la the celebrities) or have that social fabric in place, you're really disadvantaged. Being a parent is really hard. I don't ostercize or think ill of people for being single parents, or for other women for being a single mom. But, its not something I'd wish on most people. Which is not the same as saying that some people would not be better off that way (there's always useless or worse than useless parents out there).
