For anyone who has ever taken any of the late night buses like the S-series going north from K, they are filled with domestic workers who are just ending shifts (past midnight) cleaning downtown office buildings. Ridiculous. The comments about drunks on the Orange Line/in Arlington cracked me up. I realize you're just commenting on other people's generalizations, but it seems like a reality to me living in that area. I think most of those drunken frat boys and sorority girls live in my building. One memorable occasion had me walking from Gallery Place/Chinatown to SW DC. There were loads of taxis not picking up waving passengers and stopping down the blocks for others that night. This occurred last year when I was new to the area and DC had been blanketed by a small February snow storm (Snowmegaddon). I literally missed the bus and the train (metro was shutting down early those days). To be clear, I do not drink and own a car, so I was not too impaired to drive nor was I prohibited by parking costs. I could have easily driven to catch up with college friends that night, which I do more readily after that experience. Those who can pay and can not catch a cab, may be a minority viewpoint in all of this, but I am glad someone is noticing it. Just my 2 cents that will go toward gas and parking instead of taxis and metro it seems.
