Its a hard way to earn a living no doubt. On top of that, our taxi drivers in this city tend to be hyper-educated. I lost count long ago as to how many former doctors who's cabs I've hopped in. That said, I feel like hundreds upon hundreds have passed me by simply because I'm AA. Hours without a fare my a##! Furthermore, I don't miss the days when I was charged for crossing anywhere between 3-6 zones just to go between the 9:30 Club and Mt. Pleasant.
